Yemeni Army surprised Houthis and liberated many territories

The Yemeni military surprised the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Hajjah by releasing many territories in the northwestern border province.

The military media reported that the forces launched wide assaults against the Houthis, releasing many villages with a full failure in militia lines. Thus, the army took back the villages of al-Akashiya, al-Jarf, al-Kalfoud, al-Hamra, al-Shabaka, al-Maasar, al-Dhaher and Shaab al-Dosh.

Moreover, the forces demolished an armed drone and seized a large amount of weapons and military vehicles, whereas the Houthis has a lot of losses. Temporarily, two military sources informed Asharq Al-Awsat that the forces were trying to release regions that lead to the borders of the heart of the Abs district. They would try to surround it before penetrating it from the coast. They would then move east to surround other regions in the district and the towns that extend along the Harad-Hodeidah way to the south.

In fact, the clashes on this front exploded after almost a year and a half of relative calm. Observers saw that forces that are working in the fifth military zone wanted to reduce the Houthi pressure on the Marib and al-Jawf fronts, andt simultaneously could carries out its operations to release the Taiz province.

It should note that the legitimate government controls the Midi, Hiran and most of the Harad and parts of the Mastaba districts in Hajjah. While, the Houthis control the rest. In Taiz, the military appealed people who have been deceived by the Houthis to return to their senses and join their brothers in the national army.

The local authority announced general mobilization before the launch of operations to release the province. Official sources stated that the legitimate government appealed the European Union to make pressure on the Iranian regime to force it to stop its meddling in Yemen and support to the Houthis,

On his part, Foreign Minister Ahmad bin Awad bin Mubarak held telephone discussions with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell. He informed Borrell that the hostile Houthi militias are a dangerous threat to the future of Yemen and the region.

He also affirmed that the Iranian agenda in Yemen cannot be allowed to succeed, urged that pressure would be applied on the Iranian regime to cease its interference in Yemen and destabilizing acts in the region.

He also said that the pressure should force Tehran to stop using the Houthis to launch hostile acts in Yemen and against Saudi Arabia, promising that the government would continue to pursue peace and back the efforts of United Nations envoy Martin Griffiths.
