Yemen’s Muslim Brotherhood Promotes Failed Initiatives… What Are Their Objectives?

Despite its subversive efforts and objectives that only care about the interests of the group and its leaders, the Al-Islah Party, “the Muslim Brotherhood‘s arm in Yemen,” tries to promote an initiative that previously failed and achieved no success. Its aim is to portray the party as one of the parties seeking to end the ongoing conflict , in order to gain popularity, especially as the initiative concerns issues that greatly concern citizens.

The head of Al-Islah’s branch in Marib, Mukhout Bin Aboud Al-Sharif, recently renewed the offer of what he described as an initiative to open the Sarwah road, the link between Marib and Sanaa, after receiving calls from tribes loyal to legitimacy and others affiliated with the Houthi militias, according to the Al-Mashhad Al-Yamani website.

Al-Sharif relayed a “message” addressed to Sultan Al-Aradah, a member of the Leadership Council, and to Mehdi Al-Mashat, the president of the Political Council of the Houthi militias, in which he stated: “I have received several calls from sons of the Jahm tribe, some supporting legitimacy here in Marib, and others supporting the Houthis in Sanaa.”

He explained that the sons of the Jahm tribe confirmed “that they will sign an agreement among themselves to open the Sarwah road, with conditions and guarantees between them, stipulating that the forces of legitimacy and the Houthi forces will withdraw from Sarwah, and that there will be a military checkpoint for legitimacy at Al-Tala’a Al-Hamra and a point for the Houthis at the bottom of Habab, and that the displaced, both those with the Houthis and those with legitimacy, will return to Sarwah.”

He added that he is still awaiting “approval from the authorities in Marib and Sanaa,” according to his words.

More than a month ago, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood presented the same initiative, which was widely condemned and rejected by all parties due to its terms and conditions.
