100 al-Shabaab fighters killed in southern Somalia
Dozens of terrorists were killed in a military operation carried out by the Somali army in cooperation with local forces and international partners in southern Somalia.
Somali Deputy Information Minister Abdurahman Yusuf Al-Adala said during a press conference on Saturday that a planned attack resulted in the death of 100 members of the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
According to al-Adala, the attack targeted a place with more than 200 al-Shabaab members, including 12 leaders.
The attack was carried out by the Somali army, intelligence services, local forces and international partners of Somalia in an area called “Eil Teiri”, located between the central provinces of Shabelle and Hiraan, al-Adala said.
The Somali army recently intensified its operations against the terrorist Al-Shabaab movement. The operations resulted in the death of more than 160 terrorists in just three days, according to separate official statements.
