Erdogan announces the date of his visit to the UAE
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that he will visit the United Arab Emirates on February 14, indicating that this visit will establish a new era of relations with the Gulf countries.
In a statement on the occasion of an interview with several Turkish journalists by N-tv on relations with the Gulf countries, Erdogan said: “We have recently gained a good momentum in our relations with the Gulf States, especially after the end of the conflict that had no meaning between Qatar and some other regional countries, which created a new spirit of cooperation in the region”, Turkish daily Zaman reported.
He added: “In this new environment, I believe our goodwill towards the Gulf region is beginning to be better understood, and I believe we are entering a new phase of regional cooperation”.
He stressed that the date of February 14, when he will visit the UAE, is important for him, stressing that this visit will usher Turkey into a new phase of relations with the Gulf countries.
Over the past years, relations between Turkey and the UAE have not been at the desired level, but there has recently been a willingness to normalize relations, Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu said.
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane, deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces, visited Ankara a few weeks ago in what was described as a very successful step.
In mid-December, the Turkish President expressed his country’s hope to develop and strengthen bilateral relations with the UAE in various fields.
