Iran: Qatar Emir invites Iranian president to gas exporting countries summit
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has received an official invitation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to participate in the Gas Exporting Countries Summit during a meeting with Qatari Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, Iran announced Thursday.
The Iranian president received the invitation during a meeting with Qatar’s foreign minister, the official IRNA news agency reported. Raisi referred to the importance of regional cooperation, saying that strengthening relations and increasing synergy between neighboring countries can achieve security in the region.
The Iranian president stressed “the importance of multilateral mechanisms in ensuring security, especially in the field of energy”, and said: “It is necessary to protect and support coordination and cooperation in energy policies of producer countries”.
“The priority of Iran’s foreign policy in the new era is to develop and deepen relations and cooperation with the countries of the region and neighboring countries”, Raisi said. Tehran believes that regional cooperation is in the interest of peace, security and development for the peoples of the region and welcomes this cooperation.
Regarding the opportunities for cooperation between Tehran and Doha in various political, economic and cultural fields, Raisi said: “We are ready to activate all fields to develop bilateral and regional cooperation for the benefit of both countries”.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman conveyed the greetings of the Emir of Qatar to the Iranian president and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s wishes of more progress and prosperity for the Iranian people, the Qatar News Agency reported.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations, regional developments and ways to preserve the security and stability of the region, the agency added.
