Snowstorm Paralyzes Life in America, Power Outages Affect Hundreds of Thousands  


A snowstorm has led to power outages in hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in parts of the American Midwest and the Pacific Northwest, with expectations of several states experiencing paralysis due to ice accumulation.

The National Weather Service stated that the storm will bring heavy snow, strong winds, and storms to the Midwest, with temperatures expected to reach dangerously freezing levels across the Rocky Mountains and plains.

The Federal Aviation Administration in the United States reported that storms continue to cause cancellations and delays in air travel.

Airlines postponed more than 7,600 flights across the United States on Friday, including planes prevented from taking off at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago due to high winds and heavy snowfall.

Power has been cut off to over 151,000 homes and businesses in Michigan, according to data from a website tracking and recording power outages in the United States. Additionally, power outages affected over 200,000 other customers in the states of Oregon and Wisconsin.

In Iowa, candidates competing for the Republican Party nomination in the presidential elections canceled some events ahead of the party conventions in the state on Monday, kicking off a series of events where parties choose their candidates for the November presidential elections.
