UNRWA warns: Gaza witnesses the largest displacement of Palestinians since 1948

As the Israeli war on Gaza reaches its 102nd day, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that the residents of the Gaza Strip have been experiencing the “largest displacement of the Palestinian people since 1948” since the beginning of the war.

In a post on the (X) platform, the agency stated that “an entire generation of Palestinian children is suffering from shock, with thousands killed, maimed, and orphaned.” UNRWA added in its post that the people in Gaza are living in unbearable conditions.

The post included a video clip featuring aspects of the humanitarian catastrophe experienced by the people of Gaza, titled “100 Days in 100 Seconds,” indicating the continuation of the Israeli war on the Strip for more than 100 days now. In December of last year, UN officials issued a warning about the possibility of displacing the Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip to Egypt, given their displacement and the Israeli forces’ incursion into the besieged enclave.

Since the beginning of the war on October 7th last year, almost all residents have been forced to evacuate their homes at least once, with many of them displaced multiple times in the face of the advancement of Israeli forces. Israel has killed more than 23,000 Palestinians in Gaza since launching its aggression on the territory.

Estimates from health authorities in Gaza indicate that more than 40% of the martyrs were under the age of 18.
