Chelsea Grants Al Nassr Saudi Key to “Major Deal”
Thiago Silva to become a free player for the club of his choice
Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the departure of Brazilian defender Thiago Silva from the team at the end of the current season, after spending four seasons with the English club.
This will make Silva a free player to join the club of his choice, paving the way for prominent Saudi clubs seeking to acquire him, as his name has already been linked to a move to Nassr to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo next season.
Nassr is eyeing several foreign names in defense in anticipation of the departure of Spanish player Aymeric Laporte, who is considering leaving the team next summer after receiving numerous offers, including from Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad.
Silva said in a farewell message to the fans: “Chelsea means a lot to me. I came here with the goal of staying for just one season. My son plays here and I hope his journey continues with this prestigious club. In four years here, I have given everything. Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end, but I want to leave the door open, perhaps we will witness another return in a different role with the team.”
He added: “Saying goodbye is difficult, but when the love is mutual between the parties, it becomes harder. I came as a new person and it was hard to become a part of the team, but Frank Lampard helped me a lot with that and I am grateful to him. Farewell is only said in case of no return, but I want to come back.”
It is worth noting that Silva joined the London club in the summer of 2020, coming from Paris Saint-Germain in a free transfer.
