Sleep Defeats “Secrecy”.. Biden Leaves Scholtz and Goes to Bed
“The time for sleep has come” is a phrase that applies to US President Joe Biden, who chose to go to his bed rather than hold a secret meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
President Biden slipped into his bed instead of meeting with the German Chancellor during the G7 summit in June 2022, even though the meeting was scheduled for early evening, according to media reports.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz ended up meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a resort in the Alps, who informed him, to his surprise, that Biden had gone to bed, according to two informed sources cited by the American Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.
The informal meeting had been arranged as a secret discussion on Ukraine and had been scheduled for early evening because German officials knew Biden was tired at night, but things did not go as planned, according to the newspaper.
However, a spokesperson for the US State Department denied informing German officials that Biden needed rest at that time.
Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told the newspaper, “Secretary Blinken did not say that or anything similar.”
But the spokesperson did not deny Biden‘s absence from the meeting with Schultz at that time.
Difficult Timing
This incident comes at a difficult time for Joe Biden, following a disastrous performance in an election debate against his Republican opponent Donald Trump at the end of last June, followed by calls for him to withdraw from the race for the White House.
Yesterday, the White House denied that Biden is suffering from Parkinson’s disease, in the latest attempt to reassure concerns about the Democratic candidate’s fitness for the presidential election scheduled for November.
The White House said Biden undergoes two medical exams a week and confirmed that his doctor examined him today.
He clarified that Biden underwent a medical examination for linguistic performance two days after the debate.
In contrast, Biden has repeatedly refused to withdraw from the elections and has asserted that he is the only candidate capable of competing with and defeating Trump.
Yesterday Monday, Biden also sent a message to Democratic members of Congress, affirming that he has no intention of withdrawing from the presidential race.
