Vaccine Shortages Hinder Africa’s Efforts to Combat “Monkeypox”

A representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies stated today, Friday, that there is an urgent need to ship more diagnostic equipment, treatments, and vaccines to Africa.

She explained that this supply is crucial to ensuring the proper management of the outbreak of a new strain of the monkeypox virus on the continent.

In a press conference, the representative, Bronwyn Nicoll, said, “There is a severe shortage of tests, treatments, and vaccines across the continent, and this shortage is severely hampering the ability to contain the outbreak.”
