Yemen's Muslim Brotherhood Launches Arrest Campaign in Marib… What's the Connection with Gaza?

The factions of the Islah Party, “the Muslim Brotherhood wing in Yemen,” launched a campaign of arrests against people celebrating the end of the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the conclusion of a prisoner exchange, the day before yesterday, in the province of Marib under their control. This raised a wave of questions about the motives behind this action, especially since the Brotherhood is trying to appear as if they support the Palestinian cause and resistance, while in reality, they have exploited the Israeli aggression on Gaza to collect donations from citizens to fund their projects and divide the proceeds among themselves.

Many politicians have called on the Muslim Brotherhood to release the detainees arrested in Marib, the last stronghold of the Brotherhood in northern Yemen, without any charges or justifications, under false pretenses, according to the website (Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni).

The celebrations also extended to the party’s strongholds in Taiz, where thousands took to the streets in a demonstration on Friday. The Brotherhood‘s forces stood by without taking any action, as they know that the local population in Taiz rejects their presence and demands their departure.

Many activists on social media considered the Muslim Brotherhood‘s stance towards the celebrants of the end of the Gaza war as degrading, and argued that it does not represent the position of the Yemeni people, who fully support and stand by the Palestinian people with all their strength.
