According to the newspaper Al-Omana, citing sources, the poet passed away while being held in the Political Security Prison in Marib, amid reports that he had been subjected to torture inside the facility controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood.
The sources reported that Brotherhood-affiliated intelligence services arrested Issa Al-Hutam in downtown Marib, accusing him of supporting the Iranian-backed Houthi militias. They further stated that he was transferred from the city’s police station to the Political Security Prison, where he was forcibly disappeared, subjected to intense interrogations, and brutally tortured.

This is not the first time that a detainee has died in a detention center in Marib. In recent years, the same prison has witnessed similar incidents, involving both local residents and refugees. Most of the victims who died in custody were opponents of the Brotherhood’s rule and the military administration in the region.
