UAE minister reveals his country’s motives for investing 10 billion dollars in Israel

Sultan Al-Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, commented, the UAE plans to invest $10 billion in Israel, and the minister spoke about the motivations behind this investment.

UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Al-Jaber said the UAE’s announcement of a study on the possibility of investing $10 billion in Israel is “based on commercial objectives and has nothing to do with politics”.

The minister added that this is in line with the UAE’s record of seeking investment opportunities from around the world.

The UAE is still in the early stages of studying laws and legislation in Israel, he said. Al-Jaber said they are working to determine what bilateral agreements should be concluded to support and protect investments.

Last Thursday, the UAE announced their study of the possibility of investing $10 billion in a number of sectors, including energy, manufacturing, water, space and healthcare, in addition to agricultural technology. However, Dr. Sultan Al-Jaber stressed that they are in the first phase of the project, noting that there are still many issues that must be resolved before any investment can be undertaken.

In response to questions about planned investments in Israel, al-Jaber said the UAE is always looking for attractive investments in suitable places in a highly competitive world. There were many opportunities in a number of sectors, and they would continue to assess their strategic advantages and economic value.
