Second Attack Within Hours: Israel Announces Interception of Houthi Missile

The Israeli army announced on Saturday morning that it had intercepted a new missile launched from Yemen, just hours after intercepting two others claimed by the Houthi militias.
This attack signals an escalation in the frequency of assaults carried out by Yemeni Houthi militias against Israeli targets since the outbreak of war in Gaza.

In a brief statement published on the Telegram platform, the Israeli military said, “Following the sounding of sirens in several areas of Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted,” without specifying the exact location or time of the interception.
The missile launch coincided with the activation of warning sirens in Jerusalem and several other areas, creating a state of heightened security tension.
This is the second such attack in a matter of hours. On Friday, the Israeli army had already announced the interception of two missiles within 12 hours, launched from Yemen towards Israeli territory, in an attack officially claimed by the Houthi group Ansar Allah.

US Retaliatory Strikes
Meanwhile, the Houthi-affiliated “Saba” news agency reported that airstrikes were carried out early Saturday morning targeting sites in the Bani Hashish district of Sanaa Governorate and the Khab wa al-Shaaf district of Al-Jawf Governorate, attributing the strikes to the United States.
These airstrikes are part of a continued series of American and British attacks on Houthi targets, in response to their military escalation in the Red Sea.
The Pentagon announced on Tuesday that US forces had targeted more than 1,000 Houthi sites since mid-March as part of Washington’s military operations to curb the group’s attacks on international shipping and commercial vessels.

Repeated Attacks Since October 7
Since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza on October 7, 2023, Houthi militias have repeatedly launched missiles and drones against targets inside Israel, as well as at ships linked to Israel or the United States in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, from areas under their control in northern Yemen.
The militias claim that these operations are conducted in “support” of the Palestinians in Gaza.
The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, confirmed on Friday that “support operations will continue until the aggression on Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted.”
