Explosions rock northern Tehran… Israeli strikes target Iranian defenses

A series of explosions shook northern Tehran on Saturday morning, amid indications of an expansion in the scope of the strikes and the targeting of vital sites deep inside Iranian territory.

According to a correspondent for the Agence France-Presse, the explosions occurred around 7:30 a.m. and were accompanied by a loud sound resembling the buzzing of a drone, suggesting a connection to an air attack or a military operation involving unmanned aircraft.

Israeli strikes deep inside

At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces announced that they had carried out a broad wave of strikes on Friday evening targeting military sites across Tehran.

The military stated that the strikes focused on air defense positions belonging to the Iranian regime, including a site operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that was used to store missiles intended to target aircraft.

The raids also targeted a military site responsible for protecting research and development facilities for combat capabilities, as well as a ballistic missile storage site and weapons production and development facilities.

According to the Israeli statement, these strikes are part of a broader strategy aimed at “deepening the targeting of the regime’s core systems,” in an apparent attempt to undermine both its defensive and offensive capabilities.

These developments come as the war enters its sixth week, amid an unprecedented escalation in the pace of strikes and a widening of the confrontation.
