A U.S. blockade is strangling Iranian ports: maritime trade comes to a halt
U.S. forces continue to tighten their comprehensive blockade around Iranian ports.
The United States Central Command stated via its account on the X platform that the guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney is patrolling territorial waters in support of blockade operations.
The command added that “the blockade has resulted in the complete halt of maritime trade to and from Iran.”
It also confirmed that sailors and Marines aboard the landing ship USS Rushmore are likewise participating in blockade operations against Iran.
Since last week, the United States has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports following the failure of a first round of negotiations between the two sides in Islamabad.
Last Friday, Iran announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, only to close it again on Saturday, demanding that the United States lift the maritime blockade.
