12 killed: Details of the attack in an informal settlement in South Africa
South African police announced on Wednesday that at least 12 people were killed and nine others injured in a shooting east of Johannesburg.
In a statement, the police said that armed assailants opened fire on Tuesday evening in an informal settlement east of Johannesburg, killing 12 people and injuring nine others.
The police added that a large-scale manhunt had been launched for more than ten suspects following the attack, which targeted the Jumpers settlement.
According to local media reports, the victims who were killed included nine men and three women.
The motive behind the attack has not yet been established.
According to the police, the suspects arrived in a white vehicle, entered the settlement through two separate access points, opened fire at several locations, and then fled the scene in the same vehicle.
