In Six Days: 78 Houthi Attacks on Yemen’s Western Coast

The Yemeni National Resistance revealed on Friday that areas along the western coast had been subjected to more than 78 Houthi attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones over a period of six days.

In a statement, the National Resistance’s military media office said that “the Houthi militias targeted the western coast with 36 ballistic missiles and 42 drones, 11 of which were intercepted by the National Resistance before reaching their targets.”

The statement said that the Houthi militias had failed to achieve “any significant military objective, apart from destroying the port of Mokha and targeting civilian service facilities.”

In response to the Houthi attacks on Mokha and areas along the western coast, the National Resistance carried out a targeted military operation against militia positions along the front lines in the areas of Al-Barh, Hays and Al-Tuhayta.

According to the National Resistance’s military media office, “the Houthi militias suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment across all their positions and lines of confrontation.”

On Thursday, the Houthi militias struck Bab el-Mandeb Airport with two ballistic missiles. The airport is located in the town of Al-Huraikiyah, in the Dhubab district west of Taiz, near the international maritime shipping route.

The Houthi militias had previously shelled the historic port of Mokha and commercial vessels in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, causing dozens of deaths and injuries, including among civilians.

Observers believe that the Houthi attacks, which brought an end to the truce, are aimed at reshaping the map of military control on the ground and expanding the scope of the maritime threat as part of an Iranian strategy to control the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
