Taliban discuss the future of Afghan forces and America fears return of terrorism

A Taliban leader revealed that members and leaders of the movement are currently engaged in discussions about the future of Afghan forces, as Washington monitors the group’s pledge not to allow Afghanistan to be used as a base for terrorism.

In press statements on Thursday evening, the leader said, “We have now started to count the weapons, ammunition and military vehicles that were abandoned by US and NATO forces.

He added that the movement cannot be held responsible for the chaos and deaths that occurred in the past few days at Kabul airport, as people rush to leave the country after the movement took control.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US ambassador to the UN, said: We are concerned about the United Nations reports on the expansion of the terrorist group ISIS in Africa.

We will monitor the Taliban’s commitment not to allow any terrorists to threaten the United States or its allies from Afghan soil, she said. We must work to ensure that Afghanistan does not become a base for terrorism again.
