Syria denies Turkey’s statement: No negotiations on counterterrorism

Syria on Tuesday categorically denied the existence of any kind of contact or negotiations with Turkey, especially in the field of counter-terrorism.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants as saying: “Commenting on the Turkish Foreign Minister’s statements about direct negotiations with Damascus on security and counterterrorism issues, we categorically deny the existence of any kind of communication and negotiations with the Turkish regime, especially in the field of counterterrorism.”

The source added: “It has become known to everyone that the regime in Ankara is the main supporter of terrorism and has made Turkey a reservoir of extremism and terrorism, which poses a threat to peace and stability in the region and the world.”

The Syrian foreign ministry source accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s regime of “flagrantly violating the resolutions of international legitimacy on the fight against terrorism”.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told a Turkish television station that his country was communicating with Syria on security issues and the fight against terrorism.

Cavusoglu not only did this; He even confirmed that negotiations were under way at the level of special services and intelligence.

“Turkish forces are present in several areas of northern Syria, and Erdogan’s forces have been bombing Syrian villages and cities as part of a policy of pressure and intimidation to force civilians from their homes.”
