Hungary supports Morocco in Sahara issue
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said Monday that his country supports the autonomy proposal proposed by Morocco to resolve the Sahara issue, which is disputed with the Polisario Front.

- Morocco is fourth Arab country that agreed to normalize ties with Israel
He made the remarks during a meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita in Budapest, the official Moroccan news agency MAP reported.
Szijjarto expressed his support for the efforts made under the exclusive auspices of the United Nations to reach a political, realistic, pragmatic and sustainable solution to the Sahara issue, based on consensus.
He also reiterated his country’s support for the Moroccan proposal on the autonomy plan submitted to the UN Secretary-General on April 11, 2007, and for the efforts made by the Kingdom for the development of the southern provinces.
Morocco, the strategic partner of the European Union, plays a “decisive and exemplary role in the fight against illegal migration and terrorism”, Szijjarto stressed.

Bourita began an official visit to Morocco on Monday and will continue until Tuesday.
Rabat proposes broad autonomy for the Sahara region under its sovereignty, while the Polisario Front calls for a referendum for self-, a proposal supported by Algeria, which hosts refugees from the region.
