Dozens injured train crash in northwestern Slovakia

As Slovak media reported, a locomotive and a passenger train collided on Friday near the municipality of Strecno. According to TV Markiza, up to a hundred people were injured in the collision.

The site of the accident is close to a major railway junction where the inland railway lines in Bratislava and those to the Czech Republic meet.

The national railway company confirmed the accident but did not provide any information on the number of injured or killed. The Minister of Transport, Andrej Dolezal, wanted to get his own idea of the extent of the destruction at the scene of the accident, where the railway lines linking the interior of the country to the capital Bratislava and the Czech Republic intersect.
