Explosions East of Tehran… Officials Reveal the Cause

Powerful explosions were heard on Saturday morning in the city of Pakdasht, southeast of Tehran.

According to the Iranian Mehr News Agency’s correspondent, several residents reported hearing the blasts.

The agency stated that preliminary assessments suggested the sounds may have resulted from a controlled demolition operation in the area, although no official confirmation was initially issued.

Later, Iranian state media, citing a local official, reported that the explosion heard in the eastern part of Tehran Province resulted from a supervised operation to destroy unexploded ammunition remaining from the war.

The official added that the operation posed no risk to civilians and confirmed that no incidents had occurred in connection with it.

The incident comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States had agreed to Iran’s request to continue talks, while simultaneously stressing that Washington had informed Tehran “clearly and unequivocally” that the ceasefire had come to an end.

Trump had previously ordered strikes against Iran, warning that any further attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz would be met with a U.S. response that would be “far more severe.” At the same time, he expressed confidence that the current round of military escalation would not last long, although he did not rule out the continuation of negotiations between the two sides.
