German document reveals Brotherhood-ISIS relationship: cross-border links
Germany is increasing its stranglehold on the Brotherhood day after day to get rid of this social scourge, as it proves its involvement with many terrorist organizations, taking advantage of geographic proximity and common language.
A memorandum sent by the German government to parliament revealed the relations between Islamists in Germany and Switzerland late last month, confirming that “there are relations and contacts between Islamists in Switzerland and Germany due to geographical proximity and common language.”
“The federal government has information about organizational relationships and the landscape of contacts between German and Swiss Islamists,” the memo said.
“In general, these are isolated cases, yet there is a network between Brotherhood representatives in Germany and Switzerland that operates across borders, under the umbrella of the Union of Islamic Organizations in Europe,” it said.
That document corroborates the information of the German Government and the reports that described the Union of Islamic Organizations in Europe as the umbrella organization of the Community, which runs its branches in Europe.
Accordingly, the German government confirmed the existence of a cross-border Brotherhood network between Germany and Switzerland operating under the administration of the Union of Islamic Organizations, and the German government confirmed a few days ago the existence of a similar network between Austria and Germany.
As for ISIS, the government memo revealed that German prosecutors had initiated preliminary proceedings against a German national, A.N., for membership in a terrorist organization.
The memorandum clarified that the accused “was arrested on June 1, 2022, and investigations are being coordinated in Germany with the investigative authorities in Switzerland, because there are three persons named in the detainee’s communications network, who were also arrested in Switzerland,” adding that “the investigation is not yet complete.. The topic is, among other things, to clarify the suspect’s environment, particularly possible links to other members of a foreign terrorist organization, ISIS, and to identify all persons in his or her communications circle. The results of this investigation may give evidence to any other possible accomplices, supporters or accomplices.”
The government said in its memorandum that it cannot reveal more information about the Brotherhood’s and ISIS’ cross-border links with Switzerland, justifying this saying that “answering such questions about organizations or associations can facilitate the process of drawing conclusions about the information available to the authorities, the level of knowledge and the general working methods of the German intelligence services.”
The German government memo is the third in two months and is part of a strong push to combat the Brotherhood and political Islam in the German parliament since March.
