Houthi Ballistic Missile Triggers Air Raid Sirens in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem

Air raid sirens sounded across central Israel following the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen.
The alarms were activated in several cities, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ramat Gan, Rishon LeZion, and Ramla. Explosions were heard as Israeli defense systems attempted to intercept the missile launched from Yemen.

The Israeli military said: “The Air Force intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace. The sirens were activated in accordance with established protocols.”
This missile launch comes three days after the Houthis fired two ballistic missiles.
The missile was launched in the middle of the day, during school hours in Israel. Fragments of an interceptor missile were detected near Jerusalem, but no casualties were reported.
During the siren activation at the Ganot Junction (central Israel), a woman fell from a height into a roadside drainage canal, suffering minor shoulder injuries.

In Tel Aviv, a man sustained minor head injuries during the sirens, while tens of thousands of Israelis rushed to bomb shelters and secure rooms.
Sirens were activated across dozens of cities and towns.
Additionally, takeoffs and landings at Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv, were temporarily halted following the siren alerts in the greater Tel Aviv area.
Israeli media reported that a Ryanair aircraft had to turn back as it was approaching Ben Gurion Airport.

According to Israel’s Channel 12 News: “In light of the ongoing Houthi missile fire, the Israeli military has discussed the possibility of reducing the range of alerts. The army is considering adjusting siren activations following missile launches from Yemen to minimize disruption to daily life and reduce the Houthis’ incentive to fire missiles.”
Missile launches from Yemen have resumed over the past two weeks following the renewal of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
