Libyan Parliament voted for approving unity government

On Wednesday, Libya’s parliament voted for approving a government of national unity lead by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh as part of an UN-supported plan to find a solution for a decade of disorder and violence with an election in December.

Indeed, more than 100 members of the separated parliament voted to support his government in an exceptional session in the battle zone of Sirte city, while; there was just a minority that are voting against this decision.

This approval constitutes the main opportunity since years to resolve Libya’s battle, however; there are enormous obstacles in uniting the country’s competing administrations and preparing to fair national elections.

Nevertheless, Dbeibeh’s manner appointment and the expansive size of his government have generated criticism in Libya with charges of corruption and influence exploiting that corrupt people could benefit to deny his legitimacy.

It should indicate that Libya has been divided for years between the Government of National Accord in Tripoli and a competing administration in the east supported by Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army.
