Munich Airport resumes operations after temporary closure… helicopters search for an unidentified drone
Germany’s Munich Airport resumed operations on Saturday after a temporary closure that led to the suspension of air traffic, following the detection of drones in the vicinity of the airport.
A spokesperson for the German Federal Police said the closure came after reports of “suspicious sightings” made by a pilot, according to the German-language newspaper Blue Win.
Reports from one of the aircraft indicated that passengers were informed shortly before takeoff that the airport had been closed, with operations expected to remain suspended until at least 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, police helicopters continued searching for the drone, while authorities confirmed that the circumstances of the incident remain unclear.
The airport was later reopened and air traffic resumed after the temporary shutdown was lifted.
