The European Space Agency said on the platform X that the asteroid was believed to have a diameter of 70 centimeters and had been detected approximately 12 hours before it appeared in the sky. It entered the atmosphere at 1:15 a.m. local time (16:15 GMT).
The agency further stated: “Thanks to observations from astronomers worldwide, our alert system was able to predict this impact within a timeframe of plus or minus 10 seconds.”
