Participation in Major Events and Conferences: New Brotherhood Effort to Stoke Strife in Sudan

The Muslim Brotherhood, through its political arm, the dissolved National Congress Party in Sudan, seeks to participate in international events and conferences with the aim of legislating a return to the political scene.

Attempt at Visibility

In this context, the People’s Movement “Democratic Revolutionary Current” revealed the participation of the dissolved National Congress Party in a consultative meeting of Sudanese women organized by the African Union in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

The movement stated in a release that it boycotted the meeting in protest against the presence of Amira Al-Fadil, a representative of the National Congress Party of the Muslim Brotherhood, one of the prominent female figures presented by Islamists during their years in power.

The revolutionary forces and democratic forces were surprised by Amira Al-Fadil’s attendance at the consultative conference of Sudanese women, overseen by the African Union and its high-level mechanism in Kampala.

Brotherhood Plan

In this regard, Dr. Osman Mirghani, Sudanese analyst and writer, said that the Brotherhood‘s attendance at conferences and events is an attempt to prove their presence in the political arena. He pointed out that the Brotherhood is openly working to promote the continuation of war and to reject any international or regional efforts to resume the negotiation process.

He added that there are reasons prompting leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood organization to oppose ongoing efforts made by international and regional parties to halt the war, noting that attempts to obstruct such efforts resonate with some military leaders due to the organization’s need to return to power under military protection and to rid itself of many burdens and legal pursuits for serious crimes, including the dispersal of the revolutionaries’ sit-in in front of the headquarters in June 2019, among others.

He emphasized that the terrorist organization aims to prolong the duration of the war in order to liquidate the revolution and to use the state of chaos to achieve its political goals.
