The outgoing president…Somalia protest against Farmaajo
Large protests in separate areas of the Somali capital, Mogadishu
to present the rejection of the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullah Farmaajo
The protests, appealed by the opposition, while the regime tried to prevent
them by various means
start by using the Corona
pandemic as a pressure paper
until the repression and
targeting of presidential candidates participating in demonstrations
are in an evolved situation,
and therefore the UN is deeply worried
Protesters led by a number
of presidential candidates are exposed
to live ammunition that was fired near Mogadishu airport
and a number of mortars down on
shops inside Mogadishu airport
This was considered by opponents as an attempt to target them with the assassination by Farmaajo
and they described the act as aggressive, irresponsible and a failed assassination attempt
and they stated that the peaceful protesters were killed and injured
Indeed, the opposition said that they did not recognize Farmaajo as the country’s legitimate president
and insists on organizing demonstrations calling for his departure from the palace
and the organization of fair and transparent general elections in the near future
