Twitter shuts down Khamenei’s account after posting a video simulating Trump’s assassination

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s Twitter account has been shut down over his threat to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, after Khamenei released a video depicting the assassination of the former US president, following the assassination of Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani two years ago.

The Iranian news agency Mehr said: Twitter shut down the leader’s official account after publishing an animated version of Trump’s assassination; to avenge him for his involvement in the assassination of Qassem Soleimani.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to comment on a video posted on the Iranian Supreme Leader’s website depicting a drone strike killing former U.S. President Trump. In response to a question, Psaki refused to condemn the release of the video or comment on the matter.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby commented on Khamenei’s release: We are aware of this, and consider it part of Iran’s subversive activities in the region and a threat to our security.

Kirby explained: “The content of the video is a continuation of Iran’s support for terrorist networks in the Levant, the Middle East and the region, and support for militant groups in Iraq and Syria that are attacking our forces”.

Asked if he would take the threat seriously, a Pentagon spokesman said: “We take any threat from Iran seriously, because we have forces in the region, and they need protection so they can continue to confront ISIS”.

Khamenei also posted the video, which mimics Trump’s assassination; after the assassination of Soleimani who was killed in an air raid near Baghdad International Airport at the dawn of January 3, 2020.
