U.S. Strikes Deep Inside Iran Target Military Infrastructure and Underground Weapons Depots
Military infrastructure and underground weapons storage facilities were among the primary targets struck by the United States in Iran on Friday night.
In a statement released early Saturday, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had “completed the seventh consecutive night of strikes targeting Iran.”
The Targets
CENTCOM stated that the operation targeted surveillance and reconnaissance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities, and Iranian naval capabilities.
According to the command, the attacks were carried out using fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, warships, and other military assets.
CENTCOM further affirmed that it continues its operations against Iran under the direction of Commander-in-Chief President Donald Trump while maintaining a comprehensive naval blockade of Iranian ports.
The statement added that more than 50,000 U.S. military personnel remain deployed throughout the Middle East and continue to operate at the highest level of readiness and combat preparedness.
The Locations
Earlier, CENTCOM had announced in a separate statement that the latest wave of strikes began at 7:00 p.m. GMT on Friday.
The command stated that the objective of the operation was to further degrade Iran’s military capabilities.
While CENTCOM did not disclose the precise locations of the targets, Iranian state media, as reported by Reuters, said that five explosions were heard in Yazd, located in central Iran.
Yazd is widely known as the country’s “missile city” because it hosts a heavily fortified missile storage facility.
Iranian media also reported that the U.S. strikes targeted areas in Ahvaz in southwestern Iran, Khorramabad in the west of the country, the southern cities of Sirik and Bandar Abbas, as well as Qeshm Island.
In addition, Iranian outlets stated that the strikes hit two bridges and several roads in Hormozgan Province in southeastern Iran.
