UN Investigation into the Gaza War: Targeting Children Said to Support Genocide Allegations

United Nations investigators accused Israel on Tuesday of deliberately targeting Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip.

The commission considered that such targeting has become a key factor in what it describes as the ongoing genocide in the Palestinian enclave.

The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry stated that it had found evidence indicating that “Palestinian children were deliberately targeted and killed by Israeli forces.”

According to its findings, this constitutes a fundamental element in establishing “the genocidal intent of Israeli authorities and security forces aimed at eliminating the broader Palestinian group in Gaza.”

The commission also concluded that approximately 30 percent of those killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war have been children.

Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip has not ceased since the ceasefire came into effect more than seven months ago, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries.

The territory continues to experience near-daily airstrikes, in addition to artillery shelling and gunfire along the boundary separating Israeli and Palestinian areas.

Last Wednesday, Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced that Israeli operations in the enclave had resulted in the deaths of 1,005 Palestinians since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was reached in October of last year.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the total death toll from the war since it began in 2023 has now exceeded 73,000 people in the Gaza Strip.
