US for the immediate withdrawal of Russia and Turkey troops from Libya

After the ignorance of a deadline for leave, the United States appealed on Thursday for the instant withdrawal of Russian and Turkish forces from Libya

The acting US ambassador, Richard Mills, stated during a UN Security Council gathering on Libya: We call on all external parties, to include Russia, Turkey and the UAE, to respect Libyan sovereignty and immediately cease all military intervention in Libya.

In fact, under an UN-backed ceasefire contracted in October 23, foreign forces and mercenaries should withdraw from Libya within three months. This deadline ended on Saturday with no movement declared.

Mills also said: Per the October ceasefire agreement we call on Turkey and Russia to immediately initiate the withdrawal of their forces from the country and the removal of the foreign mercenaries and military proxies that they have recruited, financed, deployed and supported in Libya.

There are some 20,000 foreign troops and mercenaries in Libya serving the warring factions: the Government of National Accord in Tripoli and Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar, according to estimation of the UN. Turkey backed the GNA with military support. While the United Arab Emirates and Egypt as well as Russia supported Haftar.
