Washington envoy to Yemen: We stand in solidarity with the UAE in the face of the Houthi offensive

The US special envoy to Yemen, Tim Linderking, conveyed the US solidarity with the United Arab Emirates in the face of the recent Houthi terrorist attack during his meeting with Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the UAE president, on Saturday.

Gargash stressed “the need for the international community to take a firm stand against these hostile and terrorist acts that threaten international peace and security”, the Emirates News Agency reported.

“The terrorist militia carried out a blatant attack, and the UAE will not hesitate to defend its sovereignty and national security, and it has the legal and moral right to respond and prevent any aggression on its territory”, he said.

“The UN Security Council’s position, which unanimously condemned the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi group against civilian facilities in Abu Dhabi, represents a serious international stance towards the aggressive behavior of the militias, their aggression against the security of the countries of the region and the Yemeni people and their continued threat to international maritime navigation”, he said.

Gargash called for the need to exert appropriate international pressure to reach a ceasefire, find a political solution to the Yemeni crisis and prevent the Houthis from continuing to manipulate the future of Yemen and the region.

The reclassification of Houthi as a terrorist group reinforces the international diplomatic pressure to find a solution to the Yemeni crisis and undermines Houthi intransigence, he said. In fact, the fact confirms that the Houthi militia has never complied with any agreements and pledges and will not do so without clear international pressure.

“The Houthis are using the port of al-Hudaydah as a military facility for financing, arming, and bringing missiles and drones into Yemen to threaten the security of regional countries”, Gargash said. This requires international action to stop these terrorist activities, as Houthi’s handling of the Stockholm Agreement has proven that he does not abide by the charters at all.

He also renewed his appreciation for the American position, which condemned the terrorist attack of the Houthi terrorist militia on civilian areas and facilities in the United Arab Emirates, calling for working with the United States and the international community to stop the Houthi disregard for the security and stability of the region.
