Painful blow.. Terrorist movement Hezbollah and its allies lose their majority in parliament

In a strong blow to the terrorist militia led by Hezbollah and its allies after their loss in Lebanon’s parliamentary elections, which confirmed that the Lebanese people will not accept the presence of a militia controlling the affairs in Lebanon.

Serious loss

Official results show that Hezbollah and its allies won 62 seats in the Lebanese parliament, losing their majority in the 128-member parliament, in a development reflecting popular anger over the country’s financial collapse and the lack of accountability for the Beirut port bombing in 2020. Hezbollah, the most prominent political and military force in the country and supported by Tehran, retained, with its allies, around 70 seats of the 128-seat parliament.

The election results show that the parliament will include rival blocs, none of which has an absolute majority; this will make him more susceptible to divisions, analysts say.

According to international agencies, which showed preliminary figures of the results of the Lebanese elections, Hezbollah and its allies lost the parliamentary majority. According to Reuters, twelve new independent figures were elected to the Lebanese parliament.

According to reports, these findings fueled public anger over Lebanon’s financial collapse and the lack of accountability for the 2020 Beirut port bombing.

Voter turnout in all of Lebanon reached 41.04%, at a time when 103 electoral lists, comprising 718 candidates spread over 15 constituencies, competed in these legislative elections, which are held every four years, to choose 128 MPs.

Reasons for defeat

Lebanese political analyst Ahmed Ghaz says: “The results show that the Lebanese have chosen to deal a blow to Hezbollah and perhaps change things in the country. Hezbollah’s threats have not affected the word of the Lebanese who came out to express their rejection of the domination of the Hezbollah militia and their affiliates over the situation in Lebanon”.

The Lebanese political analyst added: “that the parliament will not be by a sectarian majority that was controlled by the Hezbollah militia and all its allies as it was in the past, which confirms that the word of the Lebanese people is the ruling in the affairs of Lebanon”.

He said the difficult economic situation facing the Lebanese people, as well as the political unrest Lebanon has suffered throughout the country, and the Beirut port bombing, are among the reasons behind Hezbollah’s defeat in the elections and the Lebanese people’s rejection of them once again.
