Mustafa al-Kadhimi: The interference of Turkey is unacceptable
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi reported on Thursday that interference of Turkey in Iraq was unacceptable, before a meeting with the President of US, Donald Trump, in Washington.
It should be noted that in June after separate military operations, Baghdad called the Turkish and Iranian ambassadors that targeted Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq, and Iraq declared that the assaults were an attack on the sovereignty of the country. However, Turkey keeps its military operations, in what it says, for security purposes.
al-Kadhimi informed reporters before a closed meeting with Trump: We will not accept it … and Iraq’s constitution states that our lands will not be [open for confrontation]. He also reported that Iraq was open to the investments of the US. These declarations come after Iraq and US companies signed more than $8 billion in agreement on Wednesday, such as energy and oil deals.
According to a statement from the US Department of Energy, Five American companies signed an agreement with Iraqi officials in the Oil and Electricity Ministries worth over $8 billion. The new agreements include a deal between Iraq and the General Electric of the US that worth more than $1 billion.
Moreover, Trump declared on Thursday that the US would support Iraq and reiterated previous comments of his will to see US troops completely withdraw from Iraq. However, the president of the US reported that the American forces were present to confront any Iranian threats.
