Facebook shuts down ‘Migrate Now’ Page… What’s its connection to the Gaza War and Jordan?

The social media platform Facebook has closed a page of unknown origin titled ‘Migrate Now,’ which called for the displacement of residents of the occupied West Bank to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, after approving the page for sponsored advertisements.

The page, which sparked widespread outrage among Palestinians and Jordanians, was directed towards the occupied West Bank. It posted a map labeled ‘United Kingdom of Israel in the Time of Saul and David,’ including large parts of Jordan, according to Sky News.

The page carried a poorly worded Arabic description stating: ‘To the Arabs in Judea and Samaria (the Torah name for the West Bank), migrate from the lands of the grandparents to Jordan before it’s too late.’

Many activists criticized Meta, the owner of Facebook, for allowing such racist pages and sponsored ads to be published amid clear restrictions on Palestinian content.

Jordan consistently warns against any attempts to forcibly relocate Palestinians outside their homeland. For Jordan, this signifies an attempt to settle the Palestinian issue at the expense of neighboring countries—a stance firmly rejected by Amman.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II reiterated three times in one week: ‘Forced displacement is a red line.’ This applies not only to the forced displacement of West Bank residents towards Jordan but to any displacement of Gaza residents towards Egyptian territories.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stated, ‘Talking about the displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan is a declaration of war,’ emphasizing his country’s rejection of ‘Gaza alone being separated from the West Bank.’
