Egypt: Explosion at 5 Sewage Stations
At least five individuals were injured in a simultaneous explosion that occurred at three sewage stations belonging to the Greater Cairo Water Company, and the injured were transported to the hospital for treatment of suffocation effects.
The three explosions caused windows to shatter, flames to rise, and smoke columns to emerge at the stations in Al-Qalaj, Al-Marg Al-Jadida, and Al-Khosous. The Civil Protection Agency in Qalyubia Governorate dispatched five firefighting vehicles and managed to control the fires resulting from the explosions.
Initial inspection revealed that the incident was caused by a gas leak in a sewage line owned by petroleum companies, leading to the mixing of petroleum substances with sewage materials.
A report was filed on the incident, and the prosecution took over the investigation.
