Newspaper: 1,800 US Police Officers Sexually Assaulted Children
An investigation by “The Washington Post” has revealed shocking findings regarding sexual assault crimes committed by US police officers against minors over the past two decades. The investigation found that 1,800 police officers were involved in sexual assaults.
In its investigation titled “Abuse of the Badge,” the newspaper reported that hundreds of American police officers sexually assaulted children.
The newspaper identified at least 1,800 officers accused of committing crimes related to child sexual assault from 2005 to 2022.
The report included images of those convicted of serious crimes related to child sexual assault, including rape, sexual assault, and child molestation, among other charges.
The report noted that among the hundreds of thousands of sworn officers in the United States, only a few have been accused of committing crimes. Not all arrests are reported in the media.
However, from 2005 to 2022, Bowling Green State University, which maintains a database on these crimes, identified approximately 17,700 state and local officers accused of committing crimes, including physical assault, driving under the influence, and drug offenses.
The newspaper also published harrowing stories of the assaults and how they were carried out, accompanied by photos of the convicted criminals, their names, and their job titles.
