Saudi Arabia denounces Israel’s authorization of built new settlements in West Bank
On Tuesday, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) declared that Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry denounced Israel’s decision to approve the construction of 800 new settlement units in the West Bank.
The Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry wrote in a tweet: We strongly condemn Israel’s decision to approve the establishment of 800 new settlement units in the West Bank, and we reiterate our categorical rejection of this step as a new violation of international legitimacy decisions, a threat to peace, and an undermining of efforts for the two-state solution.
An official statement related that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave an order, on Monday, to present plans to establish some 800 homes for Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank.
It also said that the 800 homes would be constructed in the settlements of Beit El, Tal Menashe, Rehelim, Shavei Shomron, Barkan, Karnei Shomron and Givat Zeev, however it didn’t indicate a date for the establishment.
It should note that Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, declared in October 2020 that the Kingdom has always envisioned that normalization with Israel would happen, however the current concentration should be on bringing Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table.
The Saudi FM stated: We have always envisioned that normalization [with Israel] would happen, but we also need to have a Palestinian state and a Palestinian-Israeli peace plan.
