Human rights activists demand authorities prevent Muslim Brotherhood members from targeting women in Taiz.. Details

In recent days, human rights activists have called on local authorities in Taiz province, through social media, to protect women in the region from direct harassment by members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

According to a report published by the local website “Al-Montasaf,” the activists expressed surprise at the silence of local and security authorities in Taiz regarding the actions of members of the Al-Islah party, notably a man named Abdullah Al-Adini, who directly targets and incites against women.

Sources indicate that Al-Adini has been inciting against female activists in Taiz and Yemen as a whole, without justification, and has faced no deterrence. His actions have placed many women in security danger due to his inflammatory statements and criticisms cloaked in terrorist ideology, resembling those of ISIS and Al-Qaeda.

The sources highlight that Al-Adini routinely opposes and criticizes any cultural, feminist, community, or youth initiative, labeling them all religiously. He frequently incites against women and girls, expressing radical views unrelated to law or Sharia.

The activists are urging the authorities, national institutions, and civil society to take a stand against the “Al-Adini phenomenon,” to restrain him, and compel him to respect the law.

Recently, Al-Adini incited against journalist Salah Al-Wasai and his wife after he posted a simple photo of them on Facebook, sparking reactions that escalated to death threats.

Similar incidents have been recorded, where Al-Adini’s incitement has led to security risks for those involved, as he exploits the control of the Al-Islah party, to which he belongs, over the state institutions in the liberated areas of Taiz.

Yemeni reports confirm that the Muslim Brotherhood has exploited the ongoing war in Yemen to the extent of looting all aspects of life, with Taiz bearing the brunt of these crimes and violations, including the seizure of homes, land, and businesses, as well as the formation of a mafia specializing in the trade and sale of international aid, arms smuggling, diversion of state resources, and the establishment of currency exchange offices, universities, and schools.

Observers believe that the current chaos in Taiz is a direct result of the control by the Muslim Brotherhood and the Houthis. Recently, specialized gangs have formed to seize land and homes belonging to expatriates.
