Egypt provisionally postponed discussions to normalize relations with Turkey
Al Arabiya sources affirmed that Egypt has momentarily postponed discussions to normalize ties with Turkey, including the fact to take a decision to cease security contacts with Ankara until next notice.
The sources also stated that Cairo postponed talks with Ankara until that their request are rapidly executed, indicating that Turkey’s go-slow in removing mercenaries from Libya has until now induced a breakdown in discussions with Egypt.
According to Al Arabiya sources, Turkey had demanded more time to remove its military advisors and members from Libya, as Egypt required Turkey for an immediate and unconditional removal from the dispute-strife North African country.
Disagreement between Turkey and Egypt
Recently, Turkey postponed a number of the Muslim Brotherhood’s activities within its territories, however; Egypt required more enduring procedures and the delivery of Yahya Musa and Alaa al-Samahi, the two officials are within the now-banned Muslim Brotherhood Islamist group of Egypt.
The sources who spoke to Al Arabiya indicated that Turkey required applying the demands progressively, but; Egypt wants that it implement them in two phases, affirming that the disagreement between Cairo and Ankara is about the rapidity of application of procedures against the Muslim Brotherhood.
The sources also noted that Egypt postponed Ankara’s demand to hold a wide gathering in Cairo before the end of April, and that Cairo confirmed the necessity of the Turkish military withdrawal from Arab countries out of respect for their sovereignty.
The resume of diplomatic contacts
However, state-run Anadolu Agency quoted Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying that Turkey resumed diplomatic contacts with Egypt, last month, and a week later, Turkish authorities gave order to Istanbul-based TV channels affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood to cease diffusing criticism speech toward Egypt.
Al Arabiya sources revealed that Turkey and until now promised to execute more procedures against the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated channels before the end of Ramadan, however; Egypt told Turkey of the necessity to accelerate procedures against such media channels.
Furthermore, Turkey sent a telegram to Egypt affirming that it has frozen the providing of citizenships to a number of Muslim Brotherhood members. Sources also said that Egypt also required the handover of the Islamist fighters who were in the lines of ISIS and who obtained Turkish citizenship after returning from Syria.
