Political Solutions … The Way to End Conflicts

In politics… Different ways of dealing with the events of the day, the developments of the situation, the defending of States, conflicts of interest and the containment of differences.

dialog, negotiation and diplomacy, seeking to avoid the clash and war and the ensuing material and human losses.

I was attracted to what Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, the diplomatic advisor, said on Friday in a televised speech and a diplomatic lesson: “Political solutions are the way to end conflicts in the region, and dialogs strengthen relations between states that share visions of future cooperation in many areas, to restore stability to the region,” he said, referring to a strong belief that dialog and peace should prevail in the face of intransigence and hostility.

Perhaps the word comes at a time when the desire and readiness for dialog and the primacy of diplomatic action are diminishing day by day in the Middle East region, due to the persistence and flow of crises that do not see a clear horizon for their end.

Before the UN Charter, states tended to resolve their disputes through military action, as a manifestation of sovereignty at the time, but conflict resolution changed dramatically; Whereas international law obliges States to settle their disputes by peaceful means, both direct and indirect, in a process based on give and take and balance among the negotiating parties.

Diplomacy has proven itself to be effective in solving the world’s problems over the ages in order to defuse wars, and we have the greatest credibility in the post-World War II world; Dialog and diplomacy have kept the world from falling into the trap of war many times, and the Arab countries are not in isolation. Diplomatic attempts have led to the resolution of many thorny issues in regions of tension through dialog and sincere sitting at the negotiating table. No doubt, showing force is part of diplomacy, but powerful countries are the ones that can achieve their goals through communication and dialog without losing anything.

Some believe that diplomacy is the continuation of war through other means, but with soft power, which maximizes gains and reduces losses. It is the same that makes countries strengthen their military capabilities at a time when they establish good relations and continuous cooperation. However, there is no doubt that the ultimate goal of diplomacy is to prevail peace over war so that the latter is not the only way out for change.

The end of the word.. International interactions necessarily impose a state of tension and attraction, conflict and agreement, while peace remains a constant demand of the people, and war is the last step that can be taken, but it is necessary, if necessary, to preserve the supreme interests of the people, their fate and their future.
