Israel tightens its grip on Hezbollah in Lebanon: strike on training complex and weapons depots

Israel targeted a training complex and weapons depots belonging to Hezbollah’s “Radwan Force” in southern Lebanon.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Israeli army said it was carrying out strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, including a training complex and weapons depots linked to the Radwan Force.

The statement explained that the army had recently launched strikes on Hezbollah positions in several parts of Lebanon.

During these operations, the Israeli army targeted a training complex used by the Radwan Force to train its members and plan operations described as terrorist acts against Israeli forces and Israeli civilians.

The statement added that training at the complex included shooting drills and the use of various types of weapons.

The strikes also hit several weapons depots and other Hezbollah sites used to carry out attacks against Israel.

At the same time, the Israeli army targeted a number of military facilities that Hezbollah had been using to prepare operations inside Lebanon.

Ongoing raids

On Thursday, three people were killed in two separate Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon and in the northeast near the Syrian border, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

Israel said it had targeted a figure linked to the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as another Hezbollah member.

The Israeli army announced it had killed “Hussein Mahmoud Morshed Al-Johari, one of the key operatives belonging to the Quds Force’s operations unit responsible for activities abroad.”

It also stated that it had killed “a Hezbollah member in the Jumeijmeh area” in southern Lebanon.

Despite the ceasefire agreed between Lebanon and Israel since November 2024, Tel Aviv continues to carry out regular strikes it says are aimed at Hezbollah’s infrastructure, accusing the group of rearming.

Since the agreement took effect, more than 340 people have been killed in Lebanon by Israeli strikes, according to a tally compiled by AFP based on data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

The ceasefire agreement stipulated an end to hostilities, the withdrawal of Hezbollah to north of the Litani River in southern Lebanon, and the withdrawal of the Israeli army from positions it advanced to during the latest war.

However, Israel maintains five strategic positions inside Lebanese territory and is pressing, together with the United States, for Hezbollah to be disarmed across all of Lebanon.

The Lebanese authorities have already approved a plan to disarm Hezbollah, which the army has begun implementing. However, the Lebanese movement insists that the agreement applies only to the area south of the Litani.
