Sheikh Mohammed Ben Rachid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al Nahyane, Crown Prince of Abou Dabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also sent similar congratulatory messages to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, on the occasion of National Day.
Qatar’s National Day falls on December 18th of each year, the date when Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, the founder of Qatar, assumed authority in 1878.
This year’s anniversary comes after Qatar turned the page on its disagreement with the Arab quartet (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt) during the Summit of the World held in the Kingdom on January 5th, which was followed by intensive discussions and mutual visits that contributed to the return of the atmosphere of harmony within the Gulf Cooperation Council.
This atmosphere culminated in the 42nd Gulf Summit, held recently in Riyadh, with the participation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Qatar’s celebration of its national day also comes in light of its achievements in various fields, to complement the Qatari leadership in the process of building the modern state, which was started by its founder when he assumed authority at the same time in 1878.
