Al-Mirghani’s new plan to control Sudan
Faced with instability in Sudan, the Muslim Brotherhood is seeking to gain a foothold to compensate for its overthrow from various Arab countries, whether in Egypt, Tunisia, or other countries that have witnessed popular rejection of the presence of the terrorist group, whether in government or in political life in general. The Muslim Brotherhood recently sought to circumvent the desire of the Sudanese people for the presence of the Brotherhood once again.
Al-Mirghani Deals
Mohammed Uthman al-Mirghani returned to Sudan after long years abroad, the majority of whom were in Egypt – 12 years – the return of al-Mirghani and the attempt to pass the Brotherhood plan, described by experts as a suspicious move at a very sensitive time when Sudan is awaiting the implementation of the framework agreement.
Informed sources confirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood had struck a deal with al-Mirghani, who decided that the latter would be the backdoor through which the organization infiltrates political life in Sudan. They added that al-Mirghani held meetings with the fugitive Brotherhood leaders and their representatives inside Sudan, and that the meetings resulted in the Brotherhood’ decision to harness all the Brotherhood’s capabilities inside and outside the country to al-Mirghani, in order to increase his control over the political scene. The group called upon its followers inside Sudan to support al-Mirghani, who will gradually allow the Brotherhood to return to political life, in light of the similarities of the ideas that moved the Brotherhood, which are using religion to mobilize citizens in the poorest areas in Sudan.
Blocking solutions
Well-informed sources confirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood, in collaboration with al-Mirghani, is seeking to obstruct reaching a final agreement, adding that al-Mirghani assured the Brotherhood leadership that he will seek to spoil any understanding or alliances indirectly, especially since the delay in finalizing a solution, despite its risks, is in the interest of the Brotherhood and its followers.
The sources added that the Brotherhood’s desire to return to power necessitates the presence of consecutive crises that lead to chaos that allows them to use it to impose their influence. Al-Mirghani started implementing this by blocking any initiative that is on the right path to stability in Sudan.
