Avatar continues to top the box office for the seventh consecutive week

“Avatar: The Way of Water” continued to top the box office in North America for the seventh consecutive weekend with an additional $15.7 million, according to distributors’ estimates.

It was a generally quiet weekend, marked mostly by the release of the Indian blockbuster “Pathan,” which thrust into the top five spots and the re-release of the Avery Thing Everry Ware All At Once and Pablemans, both nominated for Academy Awards.

Avatar 2’s march at the North American box office is matched only by the first part of “Avatar”, and in the last 25 years, only “Titanic” (which has been in first place for 15 weeks) has surpassed them. The three are directed by James Cameron.

Globally, “The Way of Water” has grossed around $2.1 billion, surpassing Star Wars: The Force Oakens, making it the fourth-highest film in history (Cameron directed three of them).

In second place came Universal’s “Boss in Boots: The Last Wish,” which made $10.6 million on its sixth weekend. The animated movie made more than $140.8 million in North America and was recently made available for home streaming as well.

Sony’s “Aman Cold Auto” earned $6.8 million from 3,957 screens. The horror movie Megan crept into fourth place with $6.4 million on its fourth weekend, bringing its gross domestic revenue to $82.3 million.

The Indian film”Pathan,” starring Sharukhan in his first role in five years, settled into fifth place with $5.9 million from just 695 screens.

Neon also launched the horror film Infinity Bowl, written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg and starring Mia Goth and Alexander Skarsgard, in 1853 after his first appearance at the Sundance Festival. It generated an estimated $2.7 million.

The romantic comedy “My Be It Do” starring Diane Keaton, Richard Geer and Susan Sarandan earned $562,000 from 465 screens.
