France reclaims world record for longest baguette

France has reclaimed the world record for the longest baguette, measuring one hundred and forty meters, in a mission that took 13 hours, according to “The Guardian” newspaper.

Over the past five years, the bragging rights for the longest baguette in the world weren’t owned by residents of a small village or city in France, but by a group of bakers 500 miles away in Como, Italy.

On Sunday, a group of 12 French bakers set out to correct this; spending hours kneading, shaping, and baking their way to victory.

After about 14 hours, their success was announced.

The municipality of Suresnes, in the western suburbs of Paris, wrote on its social media account: “The world record for the longest baguette has been broken”.

It pointed out that the French baguette made in Suresnes measured 140.53 meters.

The bakers started their work at three in the morning, hoping to beat the previous record of 132.62 meters.

A local resident told Le Parisien newspaper this week as he emerged from the bakery, a French baguette firmly tucked under his arm. “This is madness. If there’s one record that should belong to us in France, it’s this one.”

In a statement promoting the event, the organizers highlighted the arduous challenge facing the bakers.

They added: “The dough will be kneaded and shaped on-site, then baked in front of the public in a rolling oven under a tent.” “It will be made according to the rules of the art, using only wheat flour, water, yeast, and salt as ingredients.”

After about 13 hours of work by the bakers, the organizers said the French baguette was completed and victory achieved.
