From Germany to Sweden: Israeli Interests “Under Scrutiny”

Suspicious movements around Israeli premises in Germany and Sweden have led authorities to arrest several individuals, suspected of planning attacks.
Security services in both European countries have arrested four individuals suspected of planning attacks on Israel’s embassies.
German police announced the arrest of an 18-year-old Russian man, suspected of planning a “politically motivated” attack in Berlin.
The man was arrested in Brandenburg, the state surrounding Berlin, according to a statement from the police and the public prosecutor’s office.
Authorities did not provide further details on the potential attack, but Tagesspiegel reported that the suspect is Chechen and believed to have been planning an attack on the Israeli embassy, according to AFP.
Officials stated that riot police and specialized officers carried out the arrest.
German police had announced on Friday that they had arrested a suspect near a location where a stabbing incident had occurred, resulting in serious injuries to a Spanish man near the Holocaust memorial in Berlin.
In Sweden as well
In Stockholm, Swedish police said on Friday that they had arrested three men near the Israeli embassy, suspected of preparing a violent criminal act.
However, the police clarified that it was too early to say whether the diplomatic mission was the target of the suspects.
Swedish TV channel “TV4” reported, citing unnamed sources, that the three men were suspected of planning an attack on the embassy.
Police spokesperson Susanna Rinaldo told Reuters: “We cannot comment on the potential motive.”
She added that the arrests took place near the embassy but not inside the complex itself, without providing further details.
Last year, Swedish police strengthened security measures around Israeli and Jewish interests in the country after a shooting incident targeted the embassy.
